If you are reading this, chances are you either love rallying, or haven't tried it yet but will love it when you do. There are so many rallies out there, and your rally budget may allow for 1 rally, or it may allow for 10. Regardless, we wanted to create a quick guide to help you work through it and choose the best rally/rallies for you, without mentioning any names. The 3 main categories that will be deciding factors for you will be vibe, destinations, and accommodations.
Vibe:
There are rallies for everyone; whether you want to cruise slowly with your friends, race from point A to point B, or somewhere in between. Try to ask the right questions to find out what they are all about. Do they have morning safety meetings and organized routes, or do you wake up at your leisure and plug in the end destination then drive as fast as possible to get there? Some rallies are full of true automotive enthusiasts, and others are strictly for networking purposes/having fun with your friends without a true passion for the industry. Make sure you sign up for one that fits your M.O. so you enjoy your rally.
Destinations:
Some rallies prefer to hit big cities for the "sex appeal" of New York, L. A., Miami, etc. Others prefer to completely avoid cities, which means much less traffic. Personally I prefer a healthy balance but leaning more towards the latter. Do you want to hit some of the best roads in the country and explore more small towns with boutique hotels, or drive mostly on the highway with your friends from big city to big city? Do you need a track event to make you happy or are the backroads of America your racetrack?
Accommodations:
Are you in favor of spending as little as possible on a rally to drive with friends, and you don't really care if you are in a 2 star or 3 star hotel and figuring out your own meals? Would you prefer to spend more and stay in some of the nicest hotels and resorts you have ever experienced with 5 star meals and everything already taken care of for you? There are rallies that will accommodate you based on either of those options, and some have a nice balance of the 2.
If you made it this far, respond with what your perfect rally would be like for 2025. Hopefully this helps you choose your rallies for next season!
